Weather forecast, stadium rain policy and more

Florida Taylor Swift fans may not have to wait for midnight to see rain this week.

Nicole Carlisle, a meteorologist for the National Weather Service in Ruskin, said Tampa may experience humidity, rain showers and even some possible thunderstorms later in the week thanks to a frontal boundary close to the city.

Thursday fans have the highest chance of experiencing afternoon and evening rain — between 60 and 70%. The chance for showers drops down to 30 to 40% on Friday. On those days, the temperatures will be in the mid 80s, with a high of 84 degrees.

“Saturday looks like the best of all days as far as rain goes,” Carlisle said. “There’s only a 25 to 20% chance in the afternoon.”

But with a decreased chance of rain this weekend, fans may experience a high of 87 degrees by 3 p.m. Saturday.

“It’ll fall a couple of degrees by concert time, but we’re not going to be very comfortable,” Carlisle said.

Traveling from out of town? Add in some buffer time to account for a 50% rain chance Wednesday and Sunday.

Don’t forget to slather on waterproof sunscreen during your pre-show “Tay-gate” and hydrate with plenty of water. While some fans may worry about needing to use the bathroom later, one TikTok user pointed out Swift’s “Red” era intro (right after she plays “Enchanted”) is long enough for fans to sneak to the bathroom and back.

What is Raymond James Stadium’s rain policy?

Raymond James Stadium is an outdoor facility, and those pricy Eras Tour tickets say the show will happen rain or shine. But in the event of severe weather, the venue may temporarily suspend the show so that fans can seek shelter.

Raymond James Stadium does not allow umbrellas inside. If you leave one outside the stadium, it will likely be confiscated. Rain ponchos are permitted.

There are several stores along North Dale Mabry Highway that sell ponchos, but they may sell out ahead of the show. Stock up before the concert to save time. In the event of extreme weather, such as thunderstorms, the parking lots around Raymond James Stadium will close, further backing up what is expected to be an already congested traffic situation.
