In Elden Ring, players will need to acquire large sums of Runes to level up their character, upgrade weapons, buy items, and more. While this currency is fairly easy to come across, it's also easy to lose them. Whenever Elden Ring players die, they lose all of their runes immediately and need to go back to the location where they died to retrieve them. If players die on the way there, the runes will be gone for good, no matter how much was left behind.

The Elden Ring community has come across a couple of useful farming techniques used to acquire lots of runes quickly, but one player, specifically a Game Rant reader that goes by Doomedsole, has found a method for farming runes without even having to move their character. This rune farming technique has a couple of steps to set it up, but once players have what they need, the runes can be acquired while AFK, which is quite useful.

Elden Ring AFK Rune Farm at Academy Gate Town

The first thing that Elden Ring players need to do to start the AFK rune farming technique, is to head to the Academy Gate Town Site of Lost Grace, southeast of Raya Lucaria Academy in Liurnia of the Lakes.

Once at the Site of Grace, face north to find a tallish building that only be climbed by using Torrent.

Once on the rooftop, players need to stand in a specific spot shown in the image (and video) below. There's a short wall of bricks, and players should see if they are facing north.

Once players are in the spot, they will need to use these three items in order: Furcalling Finger Remedy > White Cipher Ring > Taunter's Tongue.

In the image above, a password has been set, but players don't need to put a password for the exploit to work.

Now, Elden Ring players will finally need to use the Mimic's Veil to turn themselves into an item. Using this makes it so that enemies cannot lock on to you from another rooftop if they manage to find you/know you're on the roof. Other players won't be able to use Torrent either, so they will not be able to attack the player using the Mimic's Veil at all.

Elden Ring Mimic Working As Intended

Players will get Furlcalling Finger Remedy and Runes (it varies based on the player's level and luck) each time an invader is killed by hunters or when they decide to just get bored and leave. Some players can get 80K Runes in about five minutes, but some folks have gotten 500K in an hour, or even a million runes.

There's a chance that FromSoftware could release a patch to remove this exploit, but for now, it's in the game and it definitely works. Just be mindful that this can go away soon.

Elden Ring is out for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
