Bamba Dieng is at a private jet terminal with his aircraft on standby, deciding whether he should proceed with a move to Leeds United or take up an offer from OGC Nice.

Leeds agreed a deal worth €10million with Marseille earlier on Thursday after a failed move for Cody Gakpo. Dieng was expected to travel to the United Kingdom ahead of signing a deal.

But Nice have now moved for the forward and are pushing to convince him to join them rather than making the switch to the Premier League.

Dieng moved to Marseille from Senegal in 2020 and made his first-team debut last year. He was part of the Senegal squad that won the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations.

Leeds’ search for the last-minute addition of a striker to their squad has led them to Dieng following an unsuccessful attempt to secure Gakpo from PSV Eindhoven last night.

Leeds’ director of football, Victor Orta, was in Eindhoven yesterday with the intention of landing Gakpo but the winger is set to remain in Holland after PSV rejected offers from Elland Road and Southampton.

Hwang, meanwhile, had been the subject of interest from Leeds earlier in the day, an approach which was knocked back by Wolverhampton Wanderers.
