Tony Dow, best known for his role in “Leave It to Beaver,” was hospitalized over the weekend with pneumonia, but his wife says he is doing OK.
“Tony’s spirit is positive,” Lauren Dow wrote on Facebook. “He gets his daily exercise by walking the corridors with his his nurse. If he could only get rid of that darn cough. It’s going to take some time.”
Despite a “violent cough” that is “causing pains on the top of his head,” Dow is in good spirits with no fever, just lots of IV fluids, Lauren added.
“For the most part, members of his medical ‘team’ are compassionate, and we appreciate their efforts,” she continued. “As well, we appreciate all of you for your thoughts and concerns. Hopefully Tony will be home soon. Poppy can’t wait to get her daddy back.”

The update comes after news broke that Dow, 76, was forced to wait 24 hours for a hospital bed as Delta variant COVID-19 cases surge in California.
Los Angeles County’s public health department reported more than 25,000 deaths total as of yesterday, with six deaths occurring Monday. As of yesterday, there were 1,687 hospitalizations. The COVID-19 cases are keeping beds full, blocking people with other conditions or ailments from getting treatment.
Dow’s wife Lauren told TMZ that the iconic actor, who played Theodore “Beaver” Cleaver’s older brother for 243 episodes from 1957 to 1963 in “Leave It to Beaver,” tested negative for COVID-19 multiple times after arriving to the emergency room last Thursday.
