Oklahoma Senator James Lankford will get some extra support in his re-election bid for the 2022 midterms.

Former President Donald Trump on Tuesday announced he is endorsing the Republican. In a statement, Trump said Lankford was "strongly committed to America First, and everything it stood for, and likewise strongly committed to me, as President."

Trump went on to call Lankford "strong on the border, tough on crime, and very smart on the economy."

The Republican is seeking his second full term in the Senate. Lankford won a 2014 special election to replace Sen. Tom Coburn. He was elected to his first full term in 2016.

Lankford defeated Republican challengers Jackson Lahmeyer and Joan Farr in the GOP primary, winning 67.8% of the vote. Lankford will now face Democrat Madison Horn, Libertarian Kenneth Blevins, and Independent Michael Delaney on November 8th.
