Kim Kardashian files for divorce from Kanye West

Kim Kardashian has filed for divorce from Kanye West after seven years of marriage Page Six can confirm.

Kardashian’s well-known divorce lawyer Laura Wasser filed the papers on Friday.

We exclusively revealed in January that Kardashian, 40 and West, 43, were headed for a split.

“Kim got Kanye to go up there [Wyoming] so they could live separate lives and quietly get things sorted out to separate and divorce. She’s done,” a source told us at the time.

While West was photographed this week still wearing his wedding band, separate photos of Kardashian indicated that she had already started going without hers.

Per TMZ, Kardashian has filed for joint legal and physical custody of the couple’s four children: daughters North, 7, and Chicago, 3, and sons Saint, 5, and Psalm, who turns 2 in May. The outlet quotes sources who say Kanye has accepted the custody arrangement and that the pair are committed to co-parenting.

The couple have a prenuptial agreement in place, and TMZ’s sources add that neither is interested in contesting it, saying that Kanye and Kim have already begun to settle property issues.

The prenup guarantees Kim $1 million for every year of marriage, according to previous reports, though the couple’s respective net worths have skyrocketed since it was drafted. The prenup reportedly states that “Money [Kim] earns from … the Kardashian clothing line and promotional appearances, will be considered her separate and sole income,” and that whatever she makes from “Keeping Up With the Kardashians” is hers to keep as well.

Real estate may be another headache: After purchasing a Calabasas, Calif., manse for $40 million, Kim and Kanye reportedly spent $20 million on renovations, and the couple also own three adjacent properties, as well as land near Palm Springs, Calif., bought in 2020 for $6.3 million. It’s unknown if Kanye’s holdings in Wyoming — a $14 million ranch in Cody, along with a warehouse also in the city and another $15 million ranch in Greybull — where he was spending much of his time before the split, are his alone.

At least some material aspect of the split is over and done with: Early in February, West was seen moving hundreds of pairs of sneakers out of the Calabasas home he shared with Kardashian.

The couple’s marital problems will be covered on the final season of “Keeping Up With the Kardashians,” which airs this year, though all parties involved are tied to a nondisclosure agreement, so fans won’t be getting any details until the show airs later in the year.

An abbreviated timeline of the pair’s relationship: West and Kardashian met in 2003 while working as an assistant to R&B star Brandy. By June of 2012, Kim proclaimed herself to be “a proud girlfriend.” West announced that they were expecting their first child together during a 2012 New Year’s Eve performance, with Kim confirming the news shortly after, and the couple wed on May 24, 2014 in Florence, Italy.

West’s bizarre 2020 presidential run was reportedly “the last straw” for Kim, though sources told Page Six that West has “been sick of being involved with [the] Kardashians for a long while. Especially her mother, who looms large in all big decisions she makes.”

“He understands Kim’s side has to spin that she is sick of him … He is quite familiar with what the Kardashian public relations machine is capable of, and thinks it’s funny that her team is blaming his presidential run on the marriage disintegration.”
