Kanye West’s already frail partnership with Adidas is now officially “under review” following the rapper’s latest “White Lives Matter” shirt scandal.
“After repeated efforts to privately resolve the situation, we have taken the decision to place the partnership under review,” the company announced in a statement Thursday, per CNBC.
“We will continue to co-manage the current product during this period.”
West, 45, replied to the statement on Instagram, writing, “F–K ADIDAS I AM ADIDAS ADIDAS RAPED AND STOLE MY DESIGNS.”
The fashion designer first partnered with Adidas in 2013 to have them handle manufacturing and distribution for his Yeezy brand.
The deal was supposed to last until 2026, but West began to vent about his frustrations with the company this past August.
He alleged in a direct message on Instagram to Complex magazine that Adidas “picked colors and named them,” “hired people that worked for [him],” “stole [his] colorways [and] styles” and hired a general manager without his consent.
The “All of the Lights” rapper also claimed the corporation delayed production on his Yeezy Gap partnership with Balenciaga.
Adidas did not respond to West’s allegations at the time.
However, it appears the company has been forced to address the issues they have with the “Gold Digger” rapper as his future in fashion hangs by a thread.
West has been criticized publicly by many — including Vogue editor Gabriella Karefa-Johnson and supermodel Gigi Hadid — for wearing a “White Lives Matter” shirt to his fashion show on Monday.
The clothing was perceived as making a mockery of Black Lives Matter, a movement meant to highlight discrimination, racism and police brutality against black people.
West has, however, doubled down despite the backlash, writing on his Instagram Stories on Tuesday, “Everyone knows that Black Lives Matter was a scam now it’s over you’re welcome.”
Adidas would not be the first fashion company to cut ties with the “All Falls Down” rapper, though. Gap confirmed in September that they parted ways with West because their “vision” was “not aligned.”
