Britney Spears OK with Kevin Federline moving sons to Hawaii, lawyer slams ‘unnecessary drama’

Britney Spears “consents” to her ex-husband Kevin Federline moving their two sons to Hawaii, Page Six has exclusively learned.

The pop star’s attorney, Mathew Rosengart, fired off a letter to the former backup dancer’s lawyer, Mark Vincent Kaplan, on Wednesday responding to the latter publicly announcing the Federline family’s intention to relocate from California.

Rosengart notes that the former couple’s eldest son, Sean Preston, “will no longer be a minor” when he turns 18 in September, while their younger son, Jayden, 16, is also “nearing the age of maturity.”

“To her credit, Britney Spears will not interfere with and consents to the relocation,” he writes in the letter, which we obtained.

Rosengart says he “did not anticipate a dispute” when Kaplan first contacted him about the move in April, sharing that he urged his counterpart at the time to keep the matter “private for the sake and dignity of all parties involved, including the children.”

“I was particularly concerned because your client previously — and appallingly — violated their privacy, while egregiously violating Britney’s privacy, by releasing a private video of Britney with her children, which was preceded by a tabloid television interview,” the former federal prosecutor writes, referencing footage of Spears scolding Preston and Jayden and Federline’s subsequent ITV appearance last year.

Rosengart goes on to slam Kaplan for talking to media outlets including TMZ and “Entertainment Tonight” earlier this month about Federline threatening to take Spears to court if she did not approve the move to Hawaii, where his wife, Victoria Prince, received a job offer.

“It was more than disappointing that you nevertheless chose to publicize this matter, creating unnecessary drama and a false ‘dispute’ by publicly discussing the issue and your letter,” he writes. “When I called you yesterday to express my dismay that you had done so, you denied doing so. Apparently, you did not realize that [TMZ’s] May 30 story itself literally quotes you as the story’s source.”

Rosengart says Kaplan’s interviews “served no good faith purpose,” calling them “undignified, ungracious and unnecessary.”

“It was also ironic, given the statement in your April 28 letter that in addition to an employment opportunity in Hawaii for Mr. Federline’s wife, the children wanted to be ‘more sheltered from the media’s scrutiny.’ That is commendable. But your media interview did nothing to shelter them; instead, it publicized the issue in the media,” he writes.

The Greenberg Traurig partner concludes his letter by praising his Grammy-winning client as “an icon, loved and respected by millions throughout the world,” as well as a “loving and supportive mother, faithfully supporting” her kids despite their estrangement.

Spears, 41, and Federline, 45, were married from October 2004 to July 2007. She wed Sam Asghari in June 2022, while the DJ tied the knot with Prince in August 2013.

In addition to Preston and Jayden, Federline shares daughter Kori, 20, and son Kaleb, 18, with his ex-fiancée Shar Jackson and daughters Jordan, 11, and Peyton, 9, with Prince.
