Read the latest fantasy football waiver wire pickups advice.

We have the second huge bye week of 2022… and it comes at the worst time. Teams are scratching for the playoffs, and Week 13 saw a rash of injuries. Let’s find you some help with Week 14 fantasy football waivers and make the fantasy playoffs a reality.

HEADS UP

  • Players must be under 60% rostered on Yahoo
  • Listed in order of preference — I’ll often prioritize potential upside over immediate middling production
  • No FAB suggestions: It varies wildly by league tendencies and always relative (ex: if you lost your RB1 to injury and there is a clear backup, you’re going to be more aggressive)
  • Streaming QB and TE are grouped together— their ranking might change slightly once projections/ranks run, and DST could shift a bit too
  • Emojis
    • 😤 = I Tried to Tell Ya — players included for several weeks (not much more to add if you don’t want them)
    • 🧐 = Check if Dropped — players whose managers might have cut for other need or impatient

WORRY REPORT
More DUCKS
🦆 (1-5) = More Concern (woo-hoo!)
Egg
🥚 = 1/2… or about to birth a new concern duck

  • Jeff Wilson, RB, MIA 🦆🦆🦆🦆🦆 — Unless Mike McDaniel comes out and says Wilson was battling through injury, I don’t know how we can trust these Shanaha… McDanielagins, even with a game script pushing them early.
  • Derrick Henry, RB, TEN 🦆🥚 — Henry is coming off a miserable four-game stretch by Henry standards — even with the Packers game — but the Broncos, Bengals and Eagles were in that stretch. The Titans now get the Jaguars, Chargers, Texans and Cowboys to finish things out. He’ll be fine.
  • Deebo Samuel, WR 🦆🦆🥚; Brandon Aiyuk, WR 🦆🦆🦆🦆; George Kittle, TE, SF 🦆🦆 — Without Jimmy Garoppolo, Aiyuk and his downfield+touchdown ability take a hit. Samuel and Kittle shouldn’t see a massive downgrade, but there is a team-wide concern, and the heaviest is with Aiyuk.
  • Amari Cooper 🦆🥚, Donovan Peoples-Jones, WR, CLE 🦆🦆🥚 Deshaun Watson looked rough — throwing plenty of passes short — in his first start. We can expect better, but the Browns don’t need Watson to attempt 35-40 passes a week with that backfield, so Cooper and DPJ could be even more inconsistent than they already were.

BYES: ATL, CHI, GB, IND, NO, WSH

STREAMING QUARTERBACK RANKINGS

There are very few quarterbacks under the 60% threshold at this point, and it’s smart of managers to have backup plans in case with the byes winding down and the playoffs drawing near. With it being time to think about rostering your backup, here are the 60% rostered and lower quarterbacks ranked by who I’d stash.

  1. Daniel Jones, NYG
  2. Tyler Huntley, BAL — for as long as Lamar Jackson is out
  3. Taylor Heinicke, WSH
  4. Mike White, NYJ
  5. Jared Goff, DET
  6. Kenny Pickett, PIT
  7. Ryan Tannehill, TEN
  8. Marcus Mariota, ATL — could get benched for Desmond Ridder
  9. Russell Wilson, DEN
  10. Brock Purdy, SF
  11. Matt Ryan, IND
  12. Sam Darnold, CAR
  13. Mac Jones, NE

WAIVER WIRE RUNNING BACK RANKS

  1. Zonovan Knight, NYJ 😤 — Until Michael Carter returns, Knight is an RB2, and he can hold RB3 value even if Carter plays.
  2. James Cook, BUF — We’ve been fooled by Bills running backs before, and I’m not going all-in with Cook, but he’s worth a pickup in case he gets late-season work similar to Devin Singletary’s volume late last year and most of this season.
  3. Travis Homer, SEA — Homer missed Week 13 but is likely to return in Week 14, and if Kenneth Walker can’t play, Homer has a nice matchup with DeeJay Dallas also banged up in Week 13.
  4. Cam Akers, LAR — Sure, we can stash one of the biggest draft busts this year, but I’d be hesitant to start Akers even with a myriad of options out or on bye in Week 14.
  5. Tyler Allgeier, ATL 😤 — Weekly RB3 with upside if he scores. Falcons are on a bye.
  6. DeeJay Dallas, SEA — If healthy (and Walker isn’t), Dallas should split with Homer.
  7. Khalil Herbert, CHI 🧐 — He should be back in Week 16, so Herbert is a playoff stash for his upside if David Montgomery gets hurt.
  8. Kyren Williams, LAR — That’s what we get for chasing a Rams running back (and believing Sean McVay). Nevertheless, Williams is fine to keep stashing on the bench.
  9. Chuba Hubbard, CARD’Onta Foreman is likely to play, but if he’s not or the Panthers run and share as much as they did in Week 12, Hubbard has some Week 14 appeal.
  10. Mike Boone, DEN — First game back and Boone was the clear backup to Latavius Murray and could push for more of a timeshare.
  11. Jerick McKinnon, KC — Weekly PPR RB3 flier.
  12. Ty Johnson, NYJ — The McKinnon of the Jets who would be droppable if Carter returns.
  13. Jordan Mason, SF — We appear to have clarity that, yes, Mason is the next one up behind Christian McCaffrey with Elijah Mitchell out.

BACKUP RUNNING BACKS
(Ranked on the upside if the starter)

Below is a rank of the backups, all who are under 60% rostered

  1. Alexander Mattison, MIN
  2. Khalil Herbert, CHI
  3. Jaylen Warren, PIT
  4. James Cook, BUF
  5. Deon Jackson, IND
  6. Mike Boone, DEN
  7. Jordan Mason, SF
  8. Matt Breida, NYG
  9. Tyler Allgeier, ATL
  10. Chuba Hubbard, CAR
  11. Travis Homer, SEA
  12. Boston Scott, PHI
  13. Joshua Kelley, LAC
  14. Dontrell Hilliard, TEN
  15. Eno Benjamin, HOU
  16. Zamir White, LV
  17. Keontay Ingram, ARI
  18. Mark Ingram, NO
  19. Snoop Conner, JAX

WAIVER WIRE WIDE RECEIVER RANKS

  1. Treylon Burks, TEN 😤— If Burks can return for Week 14, he has 14.6, 9.0 and 9.0 in the last three games even with the early exit.
  2. Jameson Williams, DET 😤— Immense ceiling with weird first-game use, but the Lions have been cautious with their returning receivers. If Williams can get up to speed and start alongside Amon-Ra St. Brown, or even lock in the No. 3 role with at least 80% of the routes, there is Top 30 potential.
  3. Michael Gallup, DAL 😤— Gallup has been here nearly all year, and the touchdowns vaulted his Week 13 score, but he deserves mention alongside the other boom/bust WR4s.
  4. Nico Collins, HOU — It’s been ugly from an efficiency standpoint, but Collins will continue to lead the Texans and hold WR4 value for as long as Brandin Cooks is out… which might be the rest of the season.
  5. Corey Davis, NYJ 🧐— In his second game back, Davis had 10-5-85. He continues to be a “well, I guess I can use him,” wideout.
  6. D.J. Chark, DET — Williams has the higher ceiling, but until he pushes past Chark as the No. 2, Chark continues to be a WR4, and the Lions are indoors again this week (where Jared Goff is better). Chark has Top 3 waiver upside and a floor down near droppable depending on Williams.
  7. Kadarius Toney, KC 🧐— Marquez Valdes-Scantling has been up-and-down and is a fine gamble if Toney doesn’t return, but if Toney can play, his dynamic ability would make him a ceiling-gamble play in Week 14.
  8. Jahan Dotson, WSH — The Commanders are on a bye, but Dotson’s snaps quickly increased after his return. While the touchdown was a dance through the secondary, that upside and ability give Taylor Heinicke a potential second option to rely on after his love, Terry McLaurin.
  9. Alec Pierce, IND 🧐— Not suggesting to chase recent production, but Parris Campbell is a free agent, and the Colts could push for a bit more Pierce use heading into the offseason.
  10. Rondale Moore, ARI 🧐— Moore was on a heck of a run before his groin injury and the return of Marquise Brown. With Brown back, it muddles Moore’s outlook, but similar to Tyler Boyd with the Bengals, there is still plenty of potential in this offense as the No. 3.
  11. Demarcus Robinson, BAL — Honestly, 8-7-41 against the Broncos is a decent showing.
  12. Donovan Peoples-Jones, CLE — Deshaun Watson should shake off some more rust in his second start of 2022, and the Browns are on the road, where DPJ loves to show out.
  13. Zay Jones, JAX — First quiet game in a while but still had seven targets.

MEH 😒 NO THANKS
