Updated February 7, 2024

It’s time yet again for the best of the best in the NFL to go head-to-head to compete for the famed Lombardi Trophy. In recent years, streaming live sports has been challenging as there are so many different networks, TV streaming services, and streaming apps from which to choose. The Super Bowl is no different—the game changes television networks nearly every year. As somebody who’s spent hours and hours juggling various apps, logins, VPNs (for local game blackout restrictions), and a litany of live TV streaming services—and also as a huge fan of the NFL and sports—it’s my duty to ensure you're ready to watch Super Bowl LVIII stress-free and confident. Get your snacks and drinks, don’t miss the commercials, and prepare for a great time no matter how or where you watch the big match-up between the San Francisco 49ers and the Kansas City Chiefs.

What to consider when deciding how to watch Super Bowl LVIII

Streaming vs TV/Cable

There are differences and challenges depending on if you’ve cut the cord and gone to streaming or still have a traditional TV/cable package. Streaming will almost certainly require a paid subscription from one of the major provider’s apps, while the game will be readily available with a basic television plan.

Are you watching on a smart TV, USB stick, or other streaming device?

If you recently cut the cord and have a smart TV, you may already have access to the necessary app to watch the Super Bowl live. Check your app library and confirm you have the appropriate, most up-to-date version of the app.

Does your current streaming service/device carry the right app/network?

Since the national cable provider changes every year for the Super Bowl, you’ll want to be sure you have access to the correct app/network. This year you’ll want to have access to CBS, or Nickelodeon (for the kiddos).

How to stream Super Bowl LVIII on TV/cable

The Super Bowl in 2024 has exclusive streaming and broadcasting rights with CBS. As long as your television package comes with CBS, you’ll be able to watch the game easily. You can also use your cable provider account login to access the CBS.com app and stream the game from anywhere. If you’re looking for a kid-friendly Super Bowl broadcast, Nickelodeon offers one with live coverage featuring your favorite characters.

How to stream Super Bowl LVIII 2024 online

A few streaming services allow you to stream the big game digitally this year, ranging in price and utility outside of streaming the Super Bowl.

Paramount Plus

Paramount Plus is an excellent choice for a cheap option to get access to the Super Bowl in 2024. Watch CBS right from the app for the big game, and then feel free to explore the awesome content on Paramount Plus afterwards. You’ll find everything from new drama series, exclusive Paramount movies, live TV and sports including Premier League soccer matches, classic Nickelodeon favorites, and the option to add on Showtime with your subscription. Also keep an eye out for the free trial option for first-time users.

The live package includes ESPN+, Disney Plus, and Hulu exclusive programming, as well as a huge collection of series, movies, and more.

How to watch Super Bowl LVIII with a VPN

A VPN or “virtual private network” lets you obscure your IP address to help keep your data and information secure while you’re online on various internet connected devices. It also offers the benefit of allowing you to use servers in areas outside of your locale. If you’re outside of the U.S. and are unable to watch the game due to location, you can download a VPN on your streaming device and use a U.S.-based server.

Utilizing a VPN is super simple, too. After you have downloaded and installed your VPN of choice on your device(s). You find a server in the country/state/province/city where your desired sporting event is being broadcast, select the server, and then fire up whichever app you are using to stream. If you aren’t sure where an event is streaming, you can find that information with a quick web search like “Which countries are streaming the Super Bowl in 2024”. Honestly, I can’t recommend a VPN enough, well beyond the Super Bowl and more.

NordVPN

This is a solid option with a variety of servers and pricing tiers ranging from monthly to annual. NordVPN is currently running a promotion for up to 67% off a new subscription. NordVPN is one of the most popular VPN options for good reason.

NordVPN

ExpressVPN

I’ve used ExpressVPN for a few years now as a Philadelphia sports fan routinely dealing with “blackout” restrictions for various sporting events and matches. I find the selection of servers on ExpressVPN the most effective for my needs, but you’ll want to consider your location and use outside of the Super Bowl to decide which VPN is best.
