WWE NXT RESULTS AND LIVE BLOG FOR JAN. 17

I see a light in shadow in between the graves, swinging his sword of hate towards the gates of Heaven, but me? I’m just here to liveblog this here pro wrestling show for you, folks.

The show opens with a recap of last week’s New Year’s Evil show.

Apollo Crews & Axiom vs. Carmelo Hayes & Trick Williams

Axiom and Williams to start, wristlock, the luchador gets away with ease. Wristlock of his own, wringing the arm, reversed, Trick lays him out with a shoulder and shimmies! Off the ropes, pop-up slap to the jaw takes Axiom out! Tag to Hayes, lucha arm drag / headscissors combination, arm drag into a dropkick, tag to Crews!

Double axehandle, whip reversed, up and over, drop down, leapfrog, drop down, dropkick takes Carmelo off his feet! Dropkick for Trick sets up a double arm drag and Apollo is fired up! Headlock takeover gets a pump kick, Hayes off the ropes, La Mistica... SO CLOSE!

Babyfaces leave the heels laying on the floor and we go to break!

Back from commercial, Axiom with a small package, Hayes kicks out, off the ropes and both men go for lariats that leave them laid out! Match breaks down, stereo rolling German suplexes from the babyface team, heels get them turned around for suplexes of their own, Crews and Axiom land on their feet and connect with kick combinations!

Hayes gets his footing back, reverse chinlock applied, whip, Axiom takes him out with a dropkick, tag to Apollo and he cleans house! Stinger splashes, enzuigiri connects, Crews calls for it, military press drop, standing moonsault, Trick breaks it up but Axiom takes him to the floor!

Nothin’ But Net reversed...

Apollo Crews & Axiom win by pinfall with a victory roll pin from Crews on Carmelo Hayes.

Tony D’Angelo and Channing “Stacks” Lorenzo are walking on the bridge again.

D’Angelo throws some coins into the water, Stacks says rats get what they deserved, and Tony says he’s proven what kinda guy he is, taking bullets for him again and again, and the whole Dijak thing didn’t end how he’d like, but... Lorenzo tells him if this is it, he’s loyal to the end, and to do what he has to.

Tony considers him for a long moment before grabbing his shoulder and telling him his days as a soldier are over, and it’s time for him to become the underboss. He gives him a leather jacket with the family crest on it to symbolize his promotion and hugs him and kisses his cheeks before they leave together.

Toxic Attraction are shown walking backstage to send us to break.

Back from commercial, Tiffany Stratton is interviewed backstage.

We see footage of her being locked out of her dressing room last night by Indi Hartwell.

Indi says this isn’t her locker room anymore, it’s the NXT women’s locker room, and she slams the door in Tiffany’s face.

Stratton says Hartwell could fit her entire wardrobe in a garbage back and she’s going to show everyone there’s only one superstar in the women’s division, and that’s her.

Toxic Attraction make their entrance and get on the mic.

They said they told us so about their team victory in the singles battle royal last week and crow about their victory. Things break down a little when they get to the point in the recap where they fought each other but decide it’s just a sign that they’re a team who thinks and acts and lands on the floor together and the Toxic Attraction Revenge Tour is in full effect.

They promise Roxanne Perez will regret the day she became champion and claim that they’re gonna win the title together.

Enter Lyra Valkyria.

She says she’s just hearing a couple of toxic crows and that if it weren’t for Cora Jade she’d be going to Vengeance Day herself. Toxics tell her to go to the back of the line and she says she just sees two women who know they can’t beat Roxanne by themselves.

That gets the Toxics to put boots to her but Roxanne Perez makes the save!

In their dojo, the Creed Brothers are hitting the bag and arguing over who gets to fight Jinder Mahal. Ivy Nile yells at them and asks where the Creeds who were disciplined and won the tag titles and says they’re too focused with revenge. She tells them to grow a set and get back to being the Creed Brothers.

Alba Fyre makes her entrance and sends us to break.

Back from commercial, Stevie Turner gives her breakdown of last week’s battle royal.

Alba Fyre vs. Sol Ruca

Feeling out, arm wringer from Fyre, Ruca handsprings out of it, up and over, short crossbody out of the corner, cover for two. Off the ropes, hip toss, Sol with an X-Factor, another nearfall. Looking for the KLR Bomb, denied, whip reversed, up and over, Ruca catches her, she slips out and lands a superkick!

Isla Dawn with a distraction, Sol stays in it...

Sol Ruca wins by pinfall with the moonsault Ace Crusher.

And so we go to break.

Back from commercial, Donovan Dijak cuts a promo about how he didn’t come back to NXT to make friends, he came back to collect punitive damages, and he’s going to win the North American Championship from Wes Lee.

Grayson Waller gets a sitdown interview.

He says he was supposed to save NXT last week, and Bron Breakker couldn’t beat him, but the dang ropes ruined everything. He whips out his own NXT Championship belt and claims that he in fact won the title before saying he’s gonna win their cage match at Vengeance Day.

We see Gallus walking backstage, chatting nigh-incomprehensibly in Scots about how they’re going to win tonight.

Briggs and Jensen and Henley say country boys are gonna raise hell tonight and we go to break.

Back from commercial, Alba Fyre is threatening a referee with her baseball bat and Katana Chance and Kayden Carter have to talk her down.

She’s frustrated about not being able to win lately and they give her a pep talk about how long it took them to win the tag titles. Alba says she wants to go after them, Kayden accuses her of having a split personality and being multiple people (I mean listen I know a couple plural folks, it’s not nearly as scary as you think it is, Carter), and Fyre storms off.

We get a Tyler Bate hype reel.

Briggs & Jensen (Brooks Jensen & Josh Briggs) vs. Gallus (Mark Coffey & Wolfgang)

Jensen and Wolfgang to start, brawling, the Scot quickly gets him in the corner and tags Coffey in for right hands! They work Brooks over at length and switch to working Briggs over with aplomb when he comes in. They tear up the mat at the base of the ramp and we go to break on more brawling.

Back from commercial Briggs tags Jensen in and he goes to town! Spinning wheel kick on Coffey but his back gives out on a followup and Mark lays him out and tags Wolfgang in. Diving elbow, side headlock, grinding Brooks down, quick tags carry on! Briggs legal, action to the floor, back body drop puts Jensen into the exposed concrete!

Josh back inside, distracted by his concern for his friend as Fallon Henley calls the medics down, small package for two, double lariats and both Briggs and Coffey are down and out! Kiana James runs down and shoves Fallon aside and they bicker as Brooks tells the medics to just get him to his feet.

Back to the action, Wolfgang tags in and overwhelms Josh...

Gallus win by pinfall with the enzuigiri / powerslam combo on Josh Briggs.

Backstage, Duke Hudson is seconding Thea Hail while she does cardio.

Andre Chase rolls up with his phone open and he plays video of Duke talking to a fellow student about everything he thinks Chase is doing wrong and tells him to say it to his face. Hudson makes excuses and wants to focus on Hail, and Andre begrudgingly drops it for now.

And so we go to break.

Back from commercial, a trainer is looking at Brooks Jensen but he says he’s fine and he just got the wind knocked out of him.

Fallon Henley comes in to yell at him for letting Kiana James come and stick her nose into their business, and Brooks defends her by saying it’s as simple as they like each other. Fallon says when Kiana breaks his heart, she won’t help him pick up the pieces.

Thea Hail vs. Valentina Feroz

Feroz with a headlock takeover in the feeling out, Hail gets a wristlock, trading pinfall attempts, Elektra Lopez comes to ringside, Valentina blocks a crucifix and then sits down into a ran pin, no good. Moonsault from Thea, quick covers, Feroz with a kick, whip across, duck a lariat, double crossbody and both women are down and out!

Lopez passes Valentina brass knuckles but she gives them to the referee! Hail catches her...

Thea Hail wins by pinfall with a snapmare driver.

Carmelo Hayes and Trick Williams are leaving the arena when Apollo Crews comes out to chide them for their loss.

They accuse him of a cheap victory but he says no victory is cheap against them and asks if they know a good barber because he needs a fresh cut. Trick points out that Crews is bald.

Commentary takes a moment to memorialize Jay Briscoe who, if you haven’t looked at the front page lately, died tragically in a car accident today.

And so we go to break.

Back from commercial, Elektra Lopez confronts Valentina Feroz in the locker room.

Feroz says she doesn’t cheat, and Lopez says she and Sanga must think the same. Elektra says she realized a long time ago she needed to do whatever it takes to stand on her own, and tells her to watch her match against Wendy Choo next week.

New Day make their entrance and get on the mic.

Xavier Woods says they look good, and Kofi Kingston says it’s because today is very special because they are done with Pretty Deadly. But who are they gonna face at Vengeance Day? Gallus!

Enter Pretty Deadly.

They’re upset that they jumped through hoops for New Day for a month and it’s not fair that they don’t get a title shot. New Day say they should have made them jump through literal hoops but Pretty Deadly insist that they’re the rightful #1 contenders.

Enter Gallus.

They say with them back, nobody else stands a chance of being NXT Tag Team Champions, and they like to turn up and ruin everyone’s good time. Xavier says no one understood what they said, but they can tell they want a fight, so they’re ready when they are.

Pretty Deadly blindside both teams but quickly get overwhelmed and the brawl sputters to an end.

Roxanne Perez and Lyra Valkyria are interviewed backstage.

Roxanne says she knows what it’s like to be the new girl and she won’t let Valkyria get overwhelmed, and Lyra says she usually flies solo, but she’s going to make an exception.

Big Body Javi rolls up, guitar in hand, and offers to play a song from his record, which hit the top forty. Neither Roxanne nor Lyra are interested and they shoo him off and send us to break.

Back from commercial, Bron Breakker gets a sitdown interview.

He says nobody wanted last week’s match end the way it did, he wanted to prove he was better and it’s tough not getting that satisfaction. He acknowledges the “what if” factor on the elbow Grayson Waller was going for and says all the doubt that’s created in people’s minds is fine, because everything will be answered at Vengeance Day.

He says Waller would be a disgrace as champion, because he’s selfish and just here for himself, and he won’t be talking trash when he gets left in the center of the ring.

Javier Bernal is in the ring with his guitar to sing us some songs off his hit record.

He starts in on Feliz Javidad but is immediately interrupted—

Enter Tyler Bate.

Javier Bernal vs. Tyler Bate

Bate with an advantage early, headlock, reversed, shot off, dropkick, arm drag into a wristlock! Bernal with a thumb to the eye, bulldog sets up a lariat, cover for two! Mounted punches, grinding his forearm across Tyler’s face! Bate gets away, headbutt, flying shoulder, uppercut, whip reversed, fakeout knee in the corner, diving uppercut!

Exploder suplex, kip up, running shooting star press, underhooks reversed, block the Codebreaker, Bop and Bang! Rebound lariat connects, underhooks, block the first try, back to it...

Tyler Bate wins by pinfall with the Tyler Driver ‘97.

Back from commercial, Chase U parade past Briggs & Jensen.

Josh gets up to leave as Fallon Henley arrives but she asks him to stay. She apologizes for what she said earlier and she knows Kiana James means a lot to Brooks and she’s gonna try to make it work. She even went and asked for a tag team match with Kiana as her partner, and they off for drinks.

Commentary hypes up next week’s show.

Lyra Valkyria & Roxanne Perez vs. Toxic Attraction (Gigi Dolin & Jacy Jayne)

Perez and Jayne to start, the match quickly breaks down with Valkyria and Dolin brawling and the babyfaces stand tall. Roxanne with a dive, getting in Gigi’s face but Lyra takes her out with a dropkick through the ropes! Back inside, tags, working Jacy over, big dropkick for two.

Jayne cuts Perez off, whip into the corner, hip attack, Bronco Buster and a senton, jackknife pin for two! Quick tags, working the champ over, she and Jacy go for X-Factors at the same time and spin out! Crawling for tags, Lyra in on Gigi with lariats, rolling solebutt, more kicks, enzuigiri sends Jacy running and she follows it with an exploder on Dolin!

Up top, Cora Jade runs in and knocks her down! Taunting Perez, she runs off, upkick cuts a legal Jacy off, tag to Roxanne, Lou Thesz Press into mounted punches! Valkyria crossbody for Cora, they fight to the back, Perez fights alone with a charging uppercut but Gigi runs in with a superkick!

Malfunction at the junction, Jayne takes Dolin out, Russian legsweep takes her out, Roxanne is on Gigi...

Lyra Valkyria & Roxanne Perez win by pinfall with Pop Rox from Perez on Gigi Dolin.

Roxanne taunts the Toxics as they bicker.

That’s the show, folks.
