McLaren is refreshing its critically acclaimed 720S supercar with the addition of styling updates, new badges and a 30 hp (30 PS) power boost, according to news reports.
Tweaks to the McLaren’s 4.0-liter M840T twin-turbo V8 will boost output from 710 hp (720 PS) to 740 hp (750 PS), the metric power rating once again being used to name the mid-engined machine, a source familiar with the project told Automotive News.
The source said the 750S will be “more aggressive” than the 720S but not as extreme as the hardcore 765LT, describing it as “the perfect blend” of the two cars. The new car’s styling both inside and out will reportedly borrow from other McLaren models. A new front bumper, larger side air intakes and a bigger 765LT-style adaptive spoiler-cum-airbrake are part of the new exterior package, while the cabin could borrow the new baby Artura’s infotainment system and digital gauge cluster.

But unlike the Artura, which uses a V6 hybrid engine in place of the V8 fitted to its 570S predecessor, the 750S won’t adopt hybrid tech for what is essentially a mild facelift of the 720S that went out of production in January. The report also suggested that there would be no LT variant this time around, and that the coupe and convertible versions of the 750S would both be available from the get-go, rather than the launch being staggered and the Spider following six months behind the hardtop car.
Autonews’s source said we’ll get our first look at the 750S in a teaser campaign released this month, with the full reveal set for April and U.S. deliveries scheduled for September. But it also claims the car is already sold out into 2024 due to the volume of reservations already placed, despite the car having not been officially unveiled and it allegedly commanding a 10 percent premium over the $310,500 cost of the outgoing car.
