Bassem Amin is an Egyptian grandmaster and six-time African Chess Champion. He also has three Arab Chess Championships, multiple African and Arab youth titles, and three bronze medals in the World Youth/Junior Chess Championships. Amin is the highest-rated player not only in Egypt but in Africa as well. He is also the only African player in history to cross the 2700-rating barrier (as of October 2022).
