Best Water Pals in Palworld

James Lynch

Water-type Pals tend to have a great combination of combat effectiveness and utility for working in camp. Here are the best options available in Palworld.

Though Flame-type Pals are undoubtedly the strongest in the game overall, their Kryptonite Water-type brethren are no slouches either. In camp, watering skills are a hugely important part of the cycle of generating food.

Outside of camp, Water Pals are the best way of dealing with some of the game’s most formidable enemies as players seek to add them to their collections. Not all were created equal; some rise above their immediate peers thanks to their skills and overall prowess.

Read on to see which are the best of the best.

Gobfin

Palworld Paldeck 13 Gobfin Water-type Pal
  • Element: Water-type
  • Partner Skill: Angry Shark – When activated, attacks the targeted enemy with a powerful attack. While in a team, it increases the player’s attack power.
  • Work Suitability: Handiwork Lv. 1, Transporting Lv. 1, Watering Lv. 2

One of the angriest looking little critters in Palworld, it’s well worth grabbing Gobfin relatively early on. Though not as powerful as some of the later Pals in this list, it’s immensely useful in combat thanks to its high-damage Partner Skill.

Additionally, it has excellent utility around camp, pitching in with multiple jobs, even if only at a low level. Though Gobfin will likely be replaced as the game progresses, it’s the best option for the first ten or so levels.

Relaxaurus

Palworld Paldeck 3 Relaxaurus Water-type Pal
  • Element: Dragon/Water-type
  • Partner Skill: Hungry Missile – Can be ridden. It can rapidly fire a missile launcher while mounted.
  • Work Suitability: Watering Lv. 1, Transporting Lv. 2

Arguably the cutest Dragon Pal in Palworld, Relaxaurus is a brilliantly well-rounded Water-type that’s well worth collecting as early as possible. The Partner Skill turns the player and their Pal into an absolute wrecking machine, raining down death from above.

The Transporting skill is brilliant to have around camp to speed up the farming of resources, and Watering is nice to have as additional utility, even if it is only Lv. 1.

Suzaku Aqua

suzaku aqua the Water-type Pal in palworld
  • Element: Water-type
  • Partner Skill: Wings of Water – Can be ridden as a Flying mount that enhances water attacks
  • Work Suitability: Watering Lv. 3

Suzaku Aqua has an incredible design and is one of the few Water-type flying mounts in the game. It offers excellent combat bonuses to the player, granting additional Water damage to basic attacks of any kind. It also does significant damage in its own right, tearing through many of its peers on the Paldeck.

Though it only has one Work Suitability, it is an effective one. Watering at Lv.3 is a relatively unusual trait and worth having if you’re struggling to keep up with your Pals’ demands for food.

Surfent

surfent Water-type Pal palworld
  • Element: Water-type
  • Partner Skill: Swift Swimmer – Prevents stamina loss while traveling over water
  • Work Suitability: Watering Lv. 2

It might look like a pool inflatable but Surfent is a solid Water-type Pal choice for the mid-game. The Partner Skill, similar to another Pal that features later in this list, prevents stamina loss when traveling over water.

Surfent also outputs significant damage in combat and is a capable contributor to camp, thanks to its Watering Skill. Though it is challenging to recommend purely for the latter, its effectiveness in battle makes it well worth picking up.

Broncherry Aqua

Broncherry Aqua the Water-type Pal
  • Element: Grass/Water-type
  • Partner Skill: Over affectionate – Increases carrying capacity
  • Work Suitability: Watering Lv. 3

The Water-type version of the original Broncherry is just as excellent to look at and equally valuable to have around. As a Partner, it dramatically increases carrying capacity and can be ridden more generally, making it the perfect accompaniment while out collecting resources.

The Lv. 3 Watering skill is also instrumental, quickly saturating crops as players seek to increase their capacity to produce crops. At Lv. 30, it won’t become accessible until later in the game, but it’s vital to grab it when it becomes a viable option.

Penking

penking Water-type Pal palworld
  • Element: Water-type
  • Partner Skill: Brave Sailor – Boosts items dropped by Fire-type Pals
  • Work Suitability: Watering Lv. 2, Handiwork Lv. 2, Transporting Lv. 2, Mining Lv. 2, Cooling Lv. 2

Arguably one of the most well-rounded Pals in the entirety of the Palpagos Islands, Penking is a must-have around any serious camp. Capable of completing five different kinds of work, all at Lv.2, there are few preferable options among the entire roster on the Paldeck.

Out and about, it is also a relatively valuable companion, allowing further drops from defeated Fire-type opponents. Considering its immense prowess at base, it’s difficult to see why this would be the play with Penking.

Azurobe

Azurobe Water-type Pal in Palworld
  • Element: Water/Dragon-type
  • Partner Skill: Waterwing Dance – Can be ridden to travel on water. Applies Water damage to the player’s attacks while mounted.
  • Work Suitability: Watering Lv.3

A Pal rarely gets a two-pronged Partner Skill, but Azurobe comes with utility in spades. The ability to ride it on the water saves a tremendous amount of hassle, and it provides additional damage to the player anytime it is mounted.

Around camp, the Lv. 3 Watering skill is great to have around, even if it is the only dimension that Azurobe brings to the party. Azurobe also puts out enormous damage and is a capable companion heading into battle.

Jormuntide

Jormuntide Water-type Pal in Palworld
  • Element: Water-type
  • Partner Skill: Stormbringer Sea Dragon – Prevents stamina loss when traveling over water
  • Work Suitability: Watering Lv. 4

The best Water-type pal at the time of writing is undoubtedly Jormuntide. Its Partner Skill makes traveling through the Palpagos Islands’ many bodies of water a breeze, and it is the only Pal in the game that is capable of Watering at Lv.4, significantly improving the speed at which the player can grow food.

Jormuntide’s real strength comes from its combat prowess. The damage output is immense, and Jormuntide can make short work of most Fire-type Pals in the game, particularly at the late point in the game where it becomes attainable.
