'Death Stranding' update will fix tiny, hard-to-read text
One of the more prevalent criticisms of Hideo Kojima's Death Stranding is that the onscreen text is often pretty small and difficult to read. Kojima Productions has been working on a fix for the issue, and you'll be able to increase the font size.
'Death Stranding' and 'Control' lead Game Awards nominees
The Game Awards takes place in less than a month and voting is now open after Geoff Keighley announced the nominees. Hideo Kojima's sprawling epic Death Stranding leads the pack with nine nominations, including game of the year, game direction, score/music, narrative and performance for both Norman Reedus and Mads Mikkelsen.
Hideo Kojima debuts six-minute 'Death Stranding' gameplay video
Death Stranding director/producer/designer/co-writer Hideo Kojima has revealed the first extended look at gameplay for his long-awaited next title. Unsurprisingly, given what we know about this game so far, it's pretty wild.
'Death Stranding' arrives on PS4 November 8th
After an hours-long looping stream of handprint silhouettes covering footage from the game, Sony has revealed more details about its upcoming PS4 blockbuster, Death Stranding, which arrives November 8th. The new trailer for legendary Metal Gear Solid director Hideo Kojima's latest creation is packed with gameplay footage.
‘Death Stranding’ adds Troy Baker to its star-studded cast
Death Stranding's latest trailer sans gameplay footage has debuted at the Tokyo Games Show. Again, the talking point is the game's star power, with one Troy Baker (of Uncharted and Telltale's Batman fame) the latest addition to its stacked cast. He joins protagonist Norman Reedus, Oscar-winning director Guillermo Del Toro, Mads Mikkelsen, Léa Seydoux, and (newly announced) Tommie Earl Jenkins. We've seen a-listers headline games in the past -- Mark Hamill in the Batman Arkham series and Willem Defoe in Beyond: Two Souls spring to mind -- but nothing on this scale.
Sony’s E3 2018 show: Our verdict
Last month, Sony poured cold water on the idea that its E3 press conference would be a big, blockbuster show. Instead, Sony said that we could expect more intimate, deeper-dives on games like Death Stranding, Ghosts of Tsushima, The Last of Us: Part II and Spider-Man. Sony was aiming for something close to a Revival Meeting vibe, hosting its event in a church hall with ribbons of bulbs running along the ceiling and pews for the attendees.
Watch the 'Death Stranding' gameplay footage to be even more confused
The first game from Kojima Studios, "Death Stranding", left audiences' mouths agape during its initial previews during last year's E3. For 2018, Sony once again wowed the audience, this time with actual gameplay footage. Not that that actually helped anybody understand what the heck is going on.
PlayStation's E3 2018 event heads back to theaters on June 11th
Sony is once again showing its PlayStation E3 event in movie theaters, although this year there's a slight twist. The tech giant has announced that its PlayStation E3 Experience will come to certain screens in the US, Canada, Mexico, Brazil, Argentina and Chile on June 11th at 9PM Eastern. Unlike in the past, though, you already have an idea of what to expect: Sony previously teased that you'd see Death Stranding, The Last of Us Part II, Ghost of Tsushima and Marvel's Spider-Man in addition to news from the usual round of third-party studios. You're attending more for the cinematic experience than to be bowled over by surprises, although we're hoping there are a few unexpected twists and turns.
Sony is trying a new format for its E3 press conference
Sony is doing something different for its E3 keynote address this year. Specifically, it'll focus on doing deep dives on a small handful first-party games, rather than unleashing a barrage of trailers. Chairman of Sony's Worldwide Studios Shawn Layden confirmed a "complete new report" for Death Stranding, in addition to more info on Ghosts of Tsushima, Spider-Man and The Last of Us: Part Two. On a new episode of the PlayStation Blogcast, Layden also said that there will be third-party games as well, in addition to indie titles.
‘The Game Awards’ round-up: catch all the best bits
Geoff Keighley has been touting this year's The Game Awards as the gaming industry's answer to the Oscars. Now that the ceremony has concluded, we can safely say that he delivered. It had all the hallmarks of a lavish awards show: Live orchestra (check), fervent spiels (check), Hollywood a-listers (check). And, there was the return of the hotly-anticipated game reveals that -- in part -- helped nab 8.6 million viewers last time round. If you didn't catch the action online, we've got your back. Below you'll find a list of the night's winners and the game trailers that went out live from the Microsoft Theatre in Los Angeles. As always, there were touching moments too, like a noticeably awestruck Melina Juergens getting the Best Performance award for Hellblade from Andy Serkis.
Hideo Kojima on his cinematic influences, 'Death Stranding' and VR
If you're starting a new gaming festival, having Metal Gear Solid creator Hideo Kojima aboard is a good way to prove you mean business. That was the case for the inaugural Tribeca Games Festival, which featured Kojima in a keynote conversation tonight with Geoff Keighley, producer of The Game Awards. The wide-ranging chat covered Kojima's cinematic influences -- of which there were many -- and his progress on Death Stranding, his long-awaited upcoming project.
The 'Death Stranding' trailer music is headed to vinyl
Hideo Kojima has the video game industry in a frenzy. The Metal Gear creator released a new teaser for his latest project, Death Stranding, to rapturous applause on Friday night at The Game Awards. It's deliciously weird, featuring one-time Silent Hills collaborator Guillermo del Toro, Danish actor Mads Mikkelsen (Doctor Strange, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story) and a vanishing baby. The trailer, like its spooky predecessor, features the music of Low Roar, which specialist record producer Mondo is now planning to release on vinyl. You'll get two tracks, I'll Keep Coming and Easy Way Out, on the 12-inch "clear with heavy black splatter" single.
Everything you missed from 'The Game Awards'
Each year that Geoff Keighley's Game Awards distances itself from its SpikeTV past, it gets subsequently less embarrassing to watch. And without a doubt, The Game Awards 2016 was the best show yet. Couldn't watch the stream? Well, that's too bad, but we've got you covered. Below you'll find a list of the night's big winners in addition to all the trailers that made their world premieres onstage at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles. There were a few emotional moments onstage as well, including Ryan Green accepting the Games for Impact award for That Dragon, Cancer; Keighley presenting his friend Hideo Kojima with a statue for Industry Icon and Nolan North throwing striking voice actors under the bus during his acceptance speech for best performance.
Norman Reedus and Hideo Kojima reunite for 'Death Stranding'
Hideo Kojima made a stunning entrance during Sony's E3 2016 press conference, showing off an enigmatic yet intriguing opening to a game titled Death Stranding. After the chilling Silent Hills, featuring Norman Reedus in the lead role, fell through, it's interesting to see what will become of this new partnership.
