Resident Evil 4's Leon Kennedy is finally being modded into Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 and he's equipped with new Remake techniques
Fans have been wanting Leon Kennedy in a Marvel vs. Capcom title for ages, yet, he has never been officially added to any of the series' game rosters. As is the natural order of things, if the developers of games won't put the content in that the people want, the people will do it themselves.
A new Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 mod from avid Marvel 3 modder tabs is in the works that adds none other than the one-liner master himself, Leon, into the Versus series game. This version of Leon takes after his Resident Evil 4 Remake version, which means in addition to his classic tool set, he also comes equipped with some new techniques as well.
This Leon Kennedy mod appears to use fellow Resident Evil protagonist Chris Redfield as the foundation, but so much of what he does and how he looks is unique. Much like in Resident Evil 4, this Marvel 3 Leon utilizes a lot of gunshots and big, sweeping kicks to take down his foes.
By default, it looks as though Leon carries his pistol around and has it at the ready at any given time. Throughout the brief preview, though, we see him switch it up and equip various other weapons including a rifle, his knife, and a machine gun.
Leon's throws also incorporate his powerful suplexes into his arsenal, which we all know is a staple maneuver he uses in RE4 when an infected villager makes the mistake of staggering in front of him. His other key melee tools are represented here by various kicks that juggle the opponent or bounce them off the wall and knife swipes that can OTG.
Speaking of Leon's trusty knife, here with this mod he uses it for one of his super attacks in which he unleashes a flurry of knife strikes on the opponent before slamming them down. But perhaps the most interesting feature we see with this Leon is the incorporation of his new knife parry from RE4 Remake.
Towards the end of the preview, a quick demonstration using a barrage of Morrigan Soul Fists shows Leon's ability to reflect the fireballs back at the opponent with his knife parry. We even see him perform a parry very shortly after shooting his pistol, meaning he should have some very solid counter-zoning abilities at his disposal.
Tabs' also keeps true to the character by adding some of his one-liners into his attack dialogue. After a big rocket launcher super, we hear Leon tell Hulk, "You're small time!"
This Leon Kennedy mod for Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 looks to be a work in progress, but from what we're already seeing here, it is gearing up to be a fantastic one.
