Yellowstone fans, it looks like some of our favorite characters are about to go through tough times this season.
As viewers gear up for the season 5 premiere on November 13, key players from the hit Paramount Network series are speaking out about what can be expected from the Dutton family. Luke Grimes is among those spilling details, and he recently disclosed to Entertainment Tonight that some potential troubles are ahead for his character Kayce Dutton and his wife Monica (Kelsey Asbille).
"It's tough. I think the show, the whole thing is the drama. The whole thing is about how much can we put these people through?" he told the outlet at a Yellowstone season 5 screening on November 3. "I think, in this season, it's Monica for sure. She's going through some pretty heavy stuff."
As folks know, Monica's road to love and happiness has been nothing but an uphill battle. Ever since her character debuted in the pilot episode, she's faced her brother Robert's death at the hands of Kayce's deceased brother Lee, brain surgery and what seems to be a never-ending rocky marriage. Plus, we see a secret love triangle forming after former ranch hand Avery (Tanaya Beatty) confesses her feelings for Kayce. Now, Luke's grim tease about Monica's future definitely has us scratching our heads for what's going to happen next.
While Luke may be looking at the grittier side of Kayce and Monica's relationship, Kelsey is all about seeing the positive moments. As she told Entertainment Tonight in the same interview as her co-star, she prefers to focus on the budding romances going into season 5.
"I think [Rip and Beth and Kayce and Monica] are both forever, but in totally different ways," she said. "One is just so meant to be and then the other one, they're fighting against all odds to be together ... My goodness, they've had a wild ride."
Well, that just gave us goosebumps thinking about where Kayce and Monica will go next. But alas, we'll just have to wait a little bit longer to see how their marriage plays out this season.
