Lyndsay Hall, Registered Dietitian (RD), BASc

Lyndsay Hall is a graduate of Applied Human Nutrition at the University of Guelph. What’s more, she completed an accredited dietetic internship with Hamilton Health Sciences to become a Registered Dietitian (RD).

In addition, Lyndsay is licensed with the College of Dietitians of Ontario. She is an active member of Dietitians of Canada as well.

 

History

Mississauga dietitian (as well as Toronto), Lyndsay, is no doubt passionate about nutrition. As a result, she communicates effectively with clients, as well as practitioners, from all walks of life.

With much of her time spent treating patients with various gastro-intestinal conditions at a clinical internship, Lyndsay gained significant knowledge and experience with nutritional management of various bowel diseases. These include Crohn’s Disease and Ulcerative Colitis.

As a Registered Dietitian, Lyndsay offers highly personalized and client-centred nutrition counselling from an evidence-based perspective.

Furthermore, Lyndsay prides herself on being thorough and detail-oriented. At the same time, she has a realistic, down-to-earth and supportive approach. As a result, her clients highly appreciate and value her counselling methods.

Maude completed her undergraduate degree at Acadia University in Nutrition and Dietetics. She also completed a Master of Applied Nutrition at the University of Guelph and simultaneous accredited dietetic internship in the Niagara Region.

In addition, Maude is licensed with the New Brunswick Association of Dietitians and College of Dietitians of Ontario. What’s more, Maude is an active member of Dietitians of Canada.

 

History

Maude strives to share her love of food and nutrition with her clients by focusing on simplicity. Her nutrition philosophy centres around the notion that long-term success can be achieved through flexibility and small, sustainable changes over time. Through an inclusive and compassionate approach, Maude ensures clients feel heard and respected in their counselling sessions.

Furthermore, Maude offers support by building accountability, goal-setting skills and individualized meal plans to guide clients toward their goals.

Maude’s experience is largely grounded in community retail environments where she has counselled hundreds of clients with numerous health problems and varying goals. Kirsten Swantee, BSc, Registered Dietitian (RD) 

A graduate of the Nutrition and Dietetics program at Acadia University, Kirsten Swantee also holds a Bachelor of Science in Nutrition with Honours. 

Kirsten is registered with the College of Dietitians of Ontario and the Nova Scotia Dietetic Association and is a member of Dietitians of Canada.

History

Kirsten is a dietitian from St. John’s, Newfoundland, where she studied biochemistry for two years at Memorial University of Newfoundland, before moving to Nova Scotia to complete her Bachelor of Science in Nutrition at Acadia University.  

She completed her dietetic practicum in the Annapolis Valley with rotations in community health, long-term care, hospital food-service management, clinical nutrition and diabetes education.

In addition, Kirsten completed honours research evaluating the effectiveness of the cardiac rehabilitation program in the Annapolis Valley.  

Kirsten believes in eating real, whole foods, balanced meals, and that, in moderation, anything can fit into a healthy diet.

She uses a personalized approach to nutrition counselling, through careful listening and the ability to simplify the complexities of the nutrition world to create a practical plan for making changes.

During her dietetic internship at Hamilton Health Sciences, Jordan completed placements in a variety of care settings that have prepared her to work with diverse clientele. Most notably, through her placements at McMaster Children’s Hospital and St. Joseph’s West 5th Campus, she gained valuable clinical experience in the areas of diabetes management, weight management, oncology nutrition, and of course, paediatric nutrition. 

Jordan’s passion and enthusiasm lend themselves to  helping clients meet their personal health goals through providing individualized nutrition care and support.

She enjoys working with children, adults, and whole families. Jordan is a nutritional consultant whose empathetic nature allows her to form meaningful connections with clients to provide the best care possible.

Kristina Dunkley, Registered Dietitian, MScFN, RD 

Kristina Dunkley is a graduate of the Masters of Science in Food and Nutrition program at Western University where she completed both research and an integrated accredited dietetic practicum which included placements across Ontario to become a Registered Dietitian (RD).

She is also licensed with the College of Dietitians of Ontario and an active member in the dietetics community.

 

History

A Toronto native based in Ottawa, Kristina has a keen interest in all things nutrition. This fuels her drive to provide exemplary nutrition counselling with all clients and collaboration with other health practitioners. 

Provided the opportunity to treat patient’s with multiple nutrition concerns from many cultures and backgrounds, Kristina has gained significant knowledge and expertise with nutritional management for a variety of health conditions. These include but are not limited to pediatric care, IBD, pre/post-natal care, eating disorders, weight management and many more. 

As a Registered Dietitian, Kristina offers client-centred personalized nutrition counselling using an evidence-based approach to provide thorough nutritional care. Kristina enjoys collaborating with clients using realistic interventions to meet individual goals. 

As an immigrant herself, Kristina has a strong working knowledge of Caribbean food and culture as well as other international cuisines thanks to her many placements across the province with different ethnic populations. Tiffany takes a comprehensive and collaborative approach to her nutritional counselling to ensure clients receive meaningful recommendations.

She provides nutrition education, support, and motivation so that her clients can make changes for long-term health.

During her dietetic internship, Tiffany completed nutrition care placements at the Scarborough Centre for Healthy Communities and Loyalist Family Health Team. Here, she gained a great deal of experience in diabetes management, heart disease, and digestive health, among others.

Tiffany’s background in public health has given her a sophisticated understanding of the multi-factorial influences on nutrition.

As a result, she provides care that is empathetic, non-judgemental and non-stigmatizing.

Nadja Abada, RD, BSc

Nadja graduated in Nutrition Sciences from the University of Ottawa. She then completed an accredited dietetic internship in Quebec, at the Centre Integre des Services Sociaux de l’Outaouais (CISSS), in food service management, public health, and toddler nutrition. Her training followed at the Ottawa Hospital in geriatrics, diabetes and gestational diabetes, cardiac surgery, and nephrology.

Nadja also completed a bachelor’s degree in Biology Sciences, focussed on genetics and molecular biology.

Nadja is licensed with the College of Dietitians of Alberta.

History

Being groomed to be a medical doctor from a young age is reflected in a great depth of knowledge and sharp critical thinking. Nadja practices very holistically, where all the determinants of health are assessed to provide the most comprehensive approach. Having a first bachelor’s degree in genetics and molecular biology, allowed Nadja to use nutrigenomics and the brain-gut axis in her practice.

Nadja has more than 5 years of experience in the private sector, as well as the hospital setting, in the community and home-care, public health, and long-term care, in Ontario and Alberta.

Nadja comes from a multicultural background, having traveled all around the world, and speaking six languages. This rich life experience allowed her to be able to relate to most cultures and connect on a deeper level with her clients, offering them a profound sense of being understood, therefore developing a very strong client report, enabling sustainable changes and successful treatment plans. She is very empathetic and an active listener, working very closely with the priorities and goals of her clients, making them feel heard.

Nadja has a passion to communicate her knowledge to others and see how the quality of life of her clients increases with a healthier nutrition and lifestyle. Doug Cook, RD MHSc

Doug graduated with honours from Ryerson University’s Food & Nutrition program and completed his post-grad internship in clinical nutrition at St. Michael’s Hospital.

He also completed a Master of Health Science degree in Community Nutrition. In addition, Doug has completed continuing education in Integrative & Functional nutrition which approaches health from a holistic perspective understanding the interconnectedness of the body’s different systems when it comes to healing, ensuring each is functioning as optimally as possible.

Doug is also licensed with the College of Dietitians of Ontario.

 

History

Doug has a mixed bag with respect to his practice, ranging from clinical nutrition at St. Michael’s Hospital, St. Joseph’s Health Centre and The Centre for Addiction and Mental Health, to writing for the public, patients and other health professionals, program development, private practice and has had a variety of experience in media including TV, radio and print.

For four years Doug served as the nutrition expert for the Ontario Ministry of Health’s former website Healthy Ontario, and, for seven years, wrote a popular column in the Toronto Star and Hamilton Spectator called The Vice Squad, wherein he helped readers cut through the hype by deconstructing the marketing claims of various food products.

He also wrote a well-received column in the Medical Post called Food as Medicine and co-authored the book Nutrition for Canadians for Dummies, 175 Best Superfood Blender Recipes Using Your NutriBullet & The Complete Leaky Gut, Health & Diet Guide.

Doug is no doubt passionate about nutrition and believes that a diet based on nutrient-dense, whole foods can go a long way in truly healing and restoring health.

He practices an integrative and functional approach to nutritional counselling providing evidenced-informed guidance with the judicious use of natural health products where appropriate.

Not being satisfied with blindly toeing the party line, Doug prefers to challenge long-standing conventional wisdom, by considering other points of view–even if unpopular–and by delving into the generally accepted assumptions of professionals in order to learn for himself and to provide a more balanced view.

Alana completed her Bachelor’s Degree in Nutrition and Food Science with a Specialization in Dietetics at the University of Alberta. After graduating from the University of Alberta, Alana continued to fine tune her nutrition care skills and began her career in the area of clinical dietetics.

Alana brings a great deal of new knowledge and passion to her practice as a dietitian. She is eager to break some of the common misconceptions associated with dietitians and relieve some of the hesitancies that may come with seeing an RD. Her vision is to empower individuals to take control of their health and well-being to lead a better life. 

Alana’s passion for nutrition developed naturally from her love for sports and seeing the direct impact that nutrition and proper diet has on performance. She grew up in a small rural Alberta town playing a variety of sports including badminton, basketball, volleyball, and of course, running (cross country, track and field et al.).  She ran her first half marathon at the age of 14 and the spark only grew bigger from there.

History

Megan is a registered dietitian from Moncton, New Brunswick and has always had a strong interest in food and science. After completing a co-op placement in high school with a local Dietitian, Megan knew this was the field for her. Throughout her undergraduate studies she was able to further enhance her food and nutrition knowledge, which allows her to practice today through an evidence-based and client-centreed lens. 

As an athlete herself, Megan has seen firsthand the importance that proper nutrition can have athletic training and recovery. James completed his Bachelor of Science in Foods and Nutrition with an Integrated Dietetic Internship at the University of Prince Edward Island. History

As a highly dedicated and competitive athlete, nutrition was always an important part of James’ life. However, his passion for food and nutrition truly sparked when he began his fitness journey as a teenager, motivating him to dive deeper into the world of sports nutrition to maximize his fitness goals. From there, James independently studied the science of sports nutrition and applied it to the many different sports he competed in. This eventually led him to the University of Prince Edward Island where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Foods and Nutrition with an integrated dietetic internship to become a dietitian. 

Growing up on beautiful Prince Edward Island, James kept himself busy by competing in a wide range of different sports including the PEI provincial soccer team, hockey, football, triathlons, track and field, cross country, and weight lifting. More recently, James now dedicates the majority of his time to combat sports and is currently an active mixed martial arts fighter. He regularly trains and hones his skills in many different martial art disciplines such as Brazilian Jiu-jitsu, kickboxing, wrestling, judo, and boxing. James continues to compete in various Brazilian Jiu-jitsu competitions and fight in sanctioned MMA bouts.

Megan is originally from Moncton, New Brunswick and has always had a strong interest in food and science. Sarah Jabeen completed her BSc in Neuroscience and Psychology from the University of Toronto. Thereafter, she pursued a MD degree from Avalon University School of Medicine in Curacao.

Areas of expertise and interest 

Sarah has always had a keen interest in Family Medicine with a focus on preventive medicine. It was during her time as a medical student that sparked curiosity about nutrition. Specifically, it was the relationship between diet and diseases she commonly encountered in practice, such as diabetes, high blood pressure, stroke and cholesterol, that piqued her interest.

Frequently, she counselled patients during clinic visits on the importance of a healthy diet.

In addition, coming from a South Asian background herself and the unfortunate fact that heart disease affects this demographic at an increasingly alarming rate, she started to develop a passion on how nutrition affects each individual’s overall health and well-being. 

Last, Sarah believes that maintaining fitness and mindful eating are the stepping stones in leading a well balanced life that could potentially be medication-free.

Her research focuses on addressing the nutritional challenges encountered by varsity athletes. Natalia earned her Bachelor of Science degree with Honours at the University of Guelph, majoring in Bio-Medical Sciences with a minor in Nutritional and Nutraceutical Sciences. Growing up Natalia swam competitively at provincial and national levels, Natalia continued her athletic pursuits at the university level as a member of the University of Guelph’s varsity swim team. As a result, Natalia has personal experience and knowledge of the challenges associated with nutrition in sports. During her undergraduate studies, Natalia developed a nutrition knowledge workbook tailored for varsity athletes, which she piloted successfully. She later presented her findings at the S.M.A.R.T conference in October 2023. She specializes in knowledge translation and is a strong believer in making scientific research accessible to the public.
She believes that nutrition is a key component of a preventative lifestyle and aims to empower others through increased awareness and knowledge. Natalia actively seeks avenues to expand her skill set and network with like-minded individuals.
