The Oscars are almost here! Time, place, nominees, and more

The 93rd edition of the Academy Awards is only a few days away

The past year has undoubtedly been very interesting for the movie industry. With movie theaters open and operating practically normally, the number of premieres has been substantial, and we are now in the midst of a very diverse awards season that promises exciting times with many surprises The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.

This year, the film that marks Jane Campion's return to directing, The Power of the Dog, leads the list with 12 nominations, including Best Picture and Best Director.

Meanwhile, the great Mexican director and storyteller Guillermo del Toro is in the Best Picture, Best Cinematography, Best Production Design, and Best Costume Design categories with his film noir Nightmare Alley.

Ryusuke Hamaguchi's Drive My Car earned four nominations (Best International Film, Best Picture, Best Adapted Screenplay, and Best Director), which is an all-time record for a Japanese film,

Steven Spielberg is the first person to be nominated in the Best Director category in six different decades

Kristen Stewart was a surprise: she was nominated in the Best Actress category even though she was not included in the nominations of the Screen Actors Guild. Lady Gaga, on the other hand, did not get a mention in that category for her great work in The House of Gucci.

Another Mexican nominee is director Carlos López Estrada for his work in the animated film Raya and the Last Dragon.

The list of nominees in the acting categories includes two couples: Penélope Cruz and Javier Bardem, and Kirsten Dunst and Jesse Plemons

The 2022 Oscars ceremony will be hosted by Wanda Sykes, Regina Hall, and Amy Schumer and will take place next Sunday, March 27, 2022, at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, California.
