A brave mum with a brilliant sense of humour has helped to raisee awareness about sepsis through sharing a series of videos about her new hand.
Sadie Kemp, 34, had been with her two-year-old son when she experience a sharp pain in her kidneys and was rushed to the hospital in agony.
After being handed painkillers and sent home, she was instructed to return if things got worse.
The following day, Sadie was once again rushed to hospital, at which point she was placed in an induced coma for two weeks.
Doctors determined that her pain was due to a kidney stone that had caused an infection that had, in turn, triggered sepsis — a potentially life-threatening condition that leads to the body attacking its own tissue and organs.
This resulted in Sadie having her fingers amputated.

Doctors sewed Sadie's hands into a pouch in her abdomen to ensure her blood kept flowing in her arms within the affected area.
When they were removed from her abdomen, her hands looked very different and many have since praised the way she's dealt with the situation.
Sadie, of Peterborough, Cambridgeshire, has been able to joke about how her new hand looks like a shark, sharing TikTok videos where she could be heard humming the theme tune from the movie Jaws.
She said: “I wasn’t aware my hand was going to look like a shark's head till it had actually been released from my abdomen.
“I looked at it for the first time and I moved what was left of my thumb and I was just like wow it looks like a shark and started to do shark videos as I thought it was pretty funny. I did not expect the video to go viral".
The recently uploaded video has already clocked up more than 60 million views and 2.1 million likes at the time of writing.
Sadie continued: “I am very new to TikTok. It's only been one week since I have had it and uploaded videos.
“I did a video of my story yesterday and I have been told it is trending which is absolutely amazing.
"I have lost a lot through sepsis, my limbs, a relationship, independence and I just don’t want it happening to as many people as it does happen to. I want to raise awareness about the dangers of sepsis".
Statistics from the World Health Organisation (WHO) show that almost 11 million people die from sepsis-related complications each year, many of whom are children.
Sadie added: “If I can get the warning out there and get the treatment as quickly as possible. Hopefully, I am saving lives, saving limbs, saving relationships, and people keeping their independence".
A Gofundme page set up to help Sadie with her condition as she continues with her journey to recovery has raised more than £28,000 at the time of writing.
Meanwhile, many others have praised the mum-of-two for having such a resilient sense of humour during what has been such a difficult time for her.
One person wrote: “If you have humour you can get through any situation, keep laughing".
While another approved: “Such a brave beautiful princess, good luck praying for you".
