The Colorado Supreme Court on Tuesday, Dec. 19, declared Trump ineligible for the White House under the U.S. Constitution’s insurrection clause and removed him from the state’s presidential primary ballot, setting up a likely showdown in the nation’s highest court to decide whether the front-runner for the GOP nomination can remain in the race. Then-President Donald Trump urged the Wayne County Board of Canvassers’ two Republican members not to sign off on certifying the county’s 2020 election results, according to phone recordings unveiled late Thursday.

First reported by The Detroit News, a Nov. 17, 2020, phone call involving Republican National Committee Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel and Trump, the former president told Monica Palmer and William Hartmann – both GOP canvassers on the board at the time – to not sign off on documents certifying the 2020 election after voicing distrust in the county’s election results.
