Everyone who thinks Michigan’s recently revived blue-and-gold license plate from 1965 snubs Michigan State in favor of the University of Michigan can breathe easy.

Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson announced Wednesday that a new revival will allow drivers next month to order a green-and-white plate based on a design from 1963. But despite the college colors tie-in, the plates’ resurrections actually honor the Civil Rights Movement.
