Michigan could roll out a program that offers state tax rebates between $1,000 and $2,500 for the purchase of a new vehicle.

Gov. Gretchen Whitmer proposed the MI Vehicle Rebate program last week to boost car sales after the six-week United Auto Workers strike against the Detroit Big Three. If approved by lawmakers, it would offer rebates to lower the cost of electric vehicles, hybrids, traditional combustion vehicles and vehicles manufactured in a facility represented by a union.
