2023 Czech Presidential Election

President of the Senate of the Parliament of the Czech Republic Miloš Vystrčil has announced according to the Act No. 207/2022 Coll., that the first round of the 2023 Presidential election will take place on Friday, January 13, and Saturday, January 14, 2023.
Due to different time zones, the election at the Consulate General of the Czech Republic in New York takes place on Thursday, January 12, and Friday, January 13, 2023, one day prior to the election in the Czech Republic.
 

The 2023 Czech Presidential election will take place at the Consulate General of the Czech Republic in New York (321 East 73rd Street, New York, NY 10021) on:
January 12, 2023 from 2 pm until 9 pm (Thursday, local time)
January 13, 2023 from 2 pm until 9 pm (Friday, local time)

Possible second round will be held on January 26 and January 27, 2023, from 2 pm until 9 pm.

To be eligible to vote at the Consulate General of the Czech Republic in New York, a voter must:
- be a citizen of the Czech Republic who is 18 years of age or older, and
- be registered in the special list of voters administered by the Consulate General in NY or, alternatively, present voter’s certificate, and
- present a valid Czech passport, or Czech ID (občanský průkaz or cestovní průkaz).

Voters will receive their ballot papers at the consulate on election day. 

Last day to register into the special list of voters administered by the Consulate General of the Czech Republic in New York is on December 4, 2022 at 4 pm local time (by this time a written application must be delivered by mail or in person). If you have already registered in the special list of voters, you do not have to register again.

If  (at the time of the election) you are located in a different place from where you are registered on the electoral roll, i.e. outside your usual permanent residence in the Czech Republic or abroad, you can apply for an electoral card and have it sent to the place where you want to vote, either to the address given or directly to the embassy/consulate.
