New Delhi: Diet soda is becoming increasingly popular and that is because it has zero calories and sugar. The absence of sugar and calories makes it a good choice of beverage and this can be consumed by people trying to lose weight or are on a strict diet as it won’t add to your calorie count.
Though it does not add to the calorie count but drinking these beverages can lead to other health conditions and it is recommended that you drink only a limited amount of these beverages. Here, take a look at the effects of drinking diet soda.
  1. It can help manage blood sugar. Diet sodas don’t have sugars in them and therefore, drinking this beverage shouldn’t lead to sugar spikes. Also for people who have diabetes, diet sodas are a safer option.

  4. It might add to your weight. These beverages have artificial sweeteners in them which might add to your weight because these sweeteners are digested differently in the body than natural sugars.
  5. It can make your taste buds realise that this isn't real sugar. Since these sweeteners taste differently than natural sugars, your taste buds over time might become used to this and this might also change your taste preferences.
