Warrigal Wins Big At The 2022 Business Awards

Warrigal is excited to announce they were successful in winning the state-level ‘Excellence in Large Business’ award at the prestigious NSW 2022 Business Awards, held on Friday November 18, 2022.

Warrigal is excited to announce they were successful in winning the state-level ‘Excellence in Large Business’ award at the prestigious NSW 2022 Business Awards, held on Friday November 18, 2022.

Following Warrigal’s success at the Illawarra Business Awards in October, the state award ceremony is a platform to recognise the outstanding achievements of businesses and business leaders across New South Wales, with 14 award categories recognised to celebrate the diverse achievements of those in our community.

As a regional charity and non-profit organisation, Warrigal is very proud to be also recognised as a large business; excelling in this award category amongst commercial nominees.

On the back of winning National Aged Care Provider of the Year in 2021, the past 12 months have seen Warrigal achieve outstanding business results, including newly formed partnerships and rapid growth, allowing them to excel in the aged care and retirement living sector. For over 55 years Warrigal has given back to their local community by not only providing essential support to older Australians, but by also supporting their local economies through revenue and employment.

They engage various local contractors and suppliers for goods and services required; build strong local business partnerships; and provide accommodation and specialised aged care services for older people. The completion of a 3 year financial recovery plan saw them move from a financial deficit to a surplus, alongside the acquisition of the Illawarra’s largest and most luxurious retirement living and aged care centre, the Links Seaside, with 500 accompanying staff and residents.

Newly welcomed Warrigal CEO, Jenni Hutchins, said winning this award at a state-level, especially as a non-profit, is a huge indicator of just how much of an impact Warrigal is having within the communities they operate.

“At a time that has been challenging for most aged care providers, this award is a credit to the hard work of our dedicated staff at every level at Warrigal. The dedication of our staff and volunteers as they followed the financial recovery plan delivered by our board and managers, all while providing the best quality support to the older Australians using our services, is why Warrigal has been so successful in growing to help even more older people.”

She continued, “I am thrilled to be joining Warrigal at a time of such success and look forward to reaching new heights as we continue our mission of providing older people with great lives.”

From a humble beginning of 10 beds on Mt Warrigal in 1967, Warrigal has continued its ambitious goal of providing housing and care for even more older people; now with 1750 staff and 400 volunteers at 25 services across 15 different locations in two states. Warrigal continues to grow their team, and is hiring for many positions across NSW and the ACT.
