STARKVILLE — Mississippi State University’s Lyceum Series will begin its 75th year of shows with a performance by legendary R&B singer Dionne Warwick.
The performance, scheduled for Sept. 29, begins a five-show season featuring a variety of acts, from theater and dance troupes to a brass band. Each show will be held at 7 p.m. in Lee Hall’s Bettersworth Auditorium.
Warwick, a six-time Grammy Award winner and the 2019 recipient of the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award, is one of the most-charted singers of all time. A Grammy Hall of Fame inductee, three of her songs — “Walk on By,” “Alfie” and “Don’t Make Me Over” — were also inducted into the organization’s hall of fame.
Other Lyceum events this fall and in 2023 include:
■ Oct. 11, The Silhouettes, a shadow-dance company that was first runner-up on “America’s Got Talent” season six and Golden Buzzer winners on “America’s Got Talent: The Championships” in 2020. For information, visit thesilhouettes.com.

The renewal period for season ticket holders is open now through July 8, and new season tickets will go on sale July 11. Miniseries tickets will be available Aug. 1-19, and individual event tickets go on sale Aug. 22.
For the Warwick show, tickets per seat in the main front seating area are $65, $55 in the main back area, $45 in the first balcony and $35 in the second balcony.
General public season tickets are $150 per person and $135 for MSU employees and senior citizens; miniseason tickets are $75 per person and $65 for employees and senior citizens; and individual tickets to events other than the Warwick performance are $30 per person, $25 for MSU employees and senior citizens, and $10 for children.
MSU students may attend each performance other than the Warwick show for free.
The Lyceum Series is MSU’s longest running performing arts series and is a key part of the university’s continued commitment to the arts.

Nonprofit seeks help hosting veteran’s coffee socials
Operation Continue Service plans to add a veteran’s coffee socials in Lowndes County/ Columbus and Noxubee County/Macon in the fall.
The organization has assisted with starting two coffee socials operating in the Golden Triangle, one in West Point and one in Starkville. Golden Triangle farmers eligible for emergency support
STARKVILLE — Administrator Zach Ducheneaux designated 10 counties in Mississippi as the primary natural disaster area. Producers in Alcorn, Attala, Calhoun, Coahoma, Forrest, Holmes, Leake, Noxubee, Panola, and Yazoo counties who suffered physical damage and losses caused by a tornado and high winds that occurred on March 30 may be eligible for U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Farm Service Agency (FSA) emergency loans.
This natural disaster designation allows FSA to extend much-needed emergency credit to producers recovering from natural disasters. Emergency loans can be used to meet various recovery needs including the replacement of essential items such as equipment or livestock, reorganization of a farming operation or the refinance of certain debts.
Producers in the counties of Bolivar, Carroll, Chickasaw, Choctaw, Covington, Grenada, Hinds, Humphreys, Issaquena, Jones, Kemper, Lafayette, Lamar, Leflore, Lowndes, Madison, Montgomery, Neshoba, Newton, Oktibbeha, Pearl River, Perry, Pontotoc, Prentiss, Quitman, Scott, Sharkey, Stone, Sunflower, Tallahatchie, Tate, Tippah, Tishomingo, Tunica, Warren, Webster, Winston, and Yalobusha are also eligible to apply for emergency loans.
The deadline to apply for these emergency loans is Jan. 25, 2023.
