Jayakrishnan and Shilpa who work in the IT field chose Kazhakkoottam, known as the IT hub of Thiruvananthapuram, to build their brand-new house. They had purchased 4.8 cents land at Kazhakoottam as both of them work here.
The plot has roads on two sides. After leaving the legal set – back, the house had to be constructed in a really small area. Moreover, the family had many demands including a spacious parking spot as they own two cars. Architect Rohit deserves credit for designing such a fabulous house, by catering to the needs and likes of the family members.
The elevation features a contemporary box style to suit the small plot. The black cladding walls adds the perfect contrast against the serene white walls. Cantilever designs have been generously used in the house. The car porch, which instantly grabs attention, too has been designed in this style.
Even though the house has two storeys, it boasts of the facilities of three floors. Interestingly, the master bedroom is arranged in a mezzanine floor built above the car porch. The amazing abode, designed in 2650 sqft, has a car porch, sit-out, living and dining areas, courtyard, kitchen with a work area and a bedroom in the ground floor. There is a bedroom in the mezzanine floor. Meanwhile, the upper floor has one more bedroom and a home theatre too.
Vitrified tiles have been used for flooring in the interiors. Meanwhile, the custom made furniture pieces look chic. The staircase designed in the cantilever style is the highlight of the interiors. Teak wood has been clad on steel frame to design this classy staircase. The bedroom in the mezzanine floor too is built in the cantilever style without any pillar support.
The dining area in double height looks incredibly spacious. The custom made dining table has bench on one side. Interestingly, the dining space, with its double height ceiling, acts as a connecting area of both the floors.
The family wanted an open kitchen that suits their busy lifestyle. The cabinets, meanwhile, are done in the plywood and acrylic finish. The counter top has been paved with granite. An adjacent work area completes the modern kitchen.
The bedrooms have been designed keeping comfort in mind. Besides, a home theatre enhanced with Dolby acoustic technology is arranged in the upper floor. The family is joyous that their house has everything that they had dreamed of.
