Get ready for a flurry of roster movement across the NFL on Tuesday.
Clubs have until 4 p.m. ET on Tuesday to trim their roster to 53 players, meaning the New England Patriots need to cut at least 25 players from their active roster over the course of the day.
Not all of those players will leave the organization, as the Patriots can hold up to 16 players on their practice squad and also can send players to the injured reserve list.
But the 53-man roster will consist of the players who are most likely to contribute at the NFL level in 2022, and there are several roster battles that will be decided by 4 p.m. ET.

4:13 p.m.: Rookie offensive tackle Kody Russey reportedly has been released.
3:53 p.m.: Another wide receiver has been cut, with Lil’Jordan Humphrey reportedly being waived. Humphrey had some good moments in the preseason and could land with another squad after spending his first three NFL seasons with the New Orleans Saints.
3:45 p.m.: Wide receiver Tre Nixon reportedly won’t make the 53-man roster despite a strong offseason. The 2021 seventh-round pick should find his way to the practice squad if he clears waivers.
3:40 p.m.: The Patriots are waiving Bill Murray (not the actor), per PFF’s Doug Kyed. Murray took reps on both the offensive and defensive lines during training camp and could wind up on the practice squad.
3:15 p.m.: The Patriots reportedly are releasing linebacker Cam McGrone a year after taking him in the fifth round of the 2021 NFL Draft.
The Michigan product appeared poised to play a role on the Patriots’ defense this season after missing his rookie campaign due to injury, but never saw the field in the preseason.
2:55 p.m.: Linebacker Nate Wieland is the latest roster casualty, PFF’s Doug Kyed reports.
2:53 p.m.: Defensive tackle Jeremiah Pharms Jr., who signed with New England in July out of the USFL, reportedly is getting cut.
2:40 p.m.: Wide receiver Josh Hammond is being waived after signing with the Patriots at the beginning of training camp, per Pro Football Focus’ Doug Kyed.
2:25 p.m.: Will Sherman is the latest offensive lineman to be released, the Providence Journal’s Mark Daniels reports.
2:04 p.m.: Three more roster cuts, according to ESPN’s Field Yates: defensive lineman Henry Anderson, defensive back/special teamer Justin Bethel and running back J.J. Taylor.
The releases of Taylor and Harris bode well for rookie running back Pierre Strong Jr. and veteran Ty Montgomery (despite his injury) making the roster.
1:55 p.m.: The Patriots are waiving Arlington Hambright, per NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, who reports the versatile offensive lineman is “a potential claim.” Hambright likely would land on New England’s practice squad if unclaimed.
1:35 p.m.: New England reportedly is releasing rookie running back Kevin Harris after taking him in the sixth round of the 2022 NFL Draft. Harris is a strong candidate to make the practice squad.
1:20 p.m.: Offensive lineman Drew Desjarlais, who spent three seasons in the CFL before joining the Patriots this season, reportedly is being released.
1:13 p.m.: Veteran linebacker and special teamer Harvey Langi will be released, ESPN’s Mike Reiss reports.
1:05 p.m.: Cornerback Terrance Mitchell is set to be released, per ESPN’s Mike Reiss. The Patriots signed Mitchell to a one-year, $3 million contract in March.
11:40 a.m.: We have our first Patriots cut of the day… Tight end Devin Asiasi has been released, per NFL Network’s Mike Giardi.
11:30 a.m.: Matt Rhule followed through on his threat, it appears. The Carolina Panthers reportedly have released cornerback Kenny Robinson, who gave Patriots wide receiver Kristian Wilkerson a concussion with a big hit during the teams’ joint practice session that sparked a massive brawl.
8 a.m.: While New England has yet to make a cut, a pair of former Patriots just lost their jobs: The Kansas City Chiefs released wide receiver Josh Gordon and defensive tackle Danny Shelton, per reports.
