Next week, 14 new games launch for Xbox, including NBA 2K23, action-RPG Steelrising, the Pokemon-inspired creature collecting MMO Temtem, and Train Sim World 3.
Compared to the last two weeks, this week is a little quieter for big-name releases, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t some interesting games on the horizon! Most notable are probably NBA 2K23 and the new action-RPG Steelrising, which both launch on September 8th. However, before that, we have the creature-collection adventure game Temtem, Disney Dream Light Valley, and Train Sim World 3 on September 6th. Train Sim World 3 and Disney Dreamlight Valley also joins Xbox Game Pass on day one.

September 6th

You can start playing September 6 via early access by purchasing a Founder’s Pack that includes some exclusive items. Xbox Game Pass members can also start playing in early access starting on September 6 as part of their membership.
Temtem — Xbox Series X|S
Temtem is a massively multiplayer creature-collection adventure. Journey across the lovely Airborne Archipelago alongside your Temtem squad. Catch every Temtem, battle other tamers, customize your house, join a friend’s adventure or explore the dynamic online world.
Train Sim World 3 — Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Windows

September 7th
Kaichu – The Kaiju Dating Sim — Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One

September 8th
NBA 2K23 — Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S

Okay, so the actual shoot-em up plays like this:
It’s an infinitely looping, high score game, with multiple game modes.
This is not a regular shooter, the level structure is not like Ikaruga or Dodonpachi or most shmups.
Each of the 3 game modes has *one level*, but it keeps changing with each loop.
The crazy part is, every time you beat the level, the *speed of the game* increases. It gets quite challenging by loop 5, and incredibly difficulty by loop 8.
To help out, there’s a powerup called ‘Time Pulse’, in limited quantity. It slows down time temporarily, and if you shoot the enemy bullets during this time, you zap them into cash. And for every so-many bullets you destroy like this, you get a new Time Pulse! It’s good to get you out of a jam, and man does it get tough later on.
Once you understand the flow of the loops, you’ll know when the best time to spend your Time Pulse, and you’ll start to figure out how to chain them, earn more, to get further.
The “Surprise” game mode is like a “rogue-like” in which the level layout changes every time you play. This mode also has lots of powerups available, making it exciting to keep trying it.
