MetroNorth Hudson commute ‘near normal’ Monday as mudslide is cleared

Crews on Sunday were successful in clearing debris — trees, brush, dirt and stone — off railroad tracks along the Hudson River so that service on Amtrak and Metro-North trains could resume Monday after a mudslide over the weekend caused service to grind to a halt.

The mudslide happened around 9:45 a.m. Saturday, blocking all four of the Metro-North Railroad tracks near the Scarborough station in Briarcliff Manor, New York, the Metropolitan Transportation Authority said.

Late Sunday, the Metropolitan Transportation Authority said it nonetheless expected a “near-normal” commute on the Hudson Line for the start of the work week, as two of the four tracks impacted by the slide had been cleared.
