    🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩 QUOTE

Looking to avoid a repeat of last week’s descent into hell, I made absolutely no changes to my Wordle strategy and hoped for the best. Call me stubborn, sure, but you can’t say I’m inconsistent.

U and O are both uncommon vowels, and it’s even rarer to see the two of them appear in a word together. My immediate thought was that the answer was probably OUTED or OUTER, and flipped a coin on which one I was going to guess. Not quite right, but in the ballpark (which, as a Mets fan, has been a depressing place this year).

I thought about words like ROUTE, but since I knew the U had to be in the second position, that definitely couldn’t be it. QUOTE felt like a bit of a longshot with the Q, but all the other letters seemed to line up in the right place, so it was worth a shot. I’m always happy with a three-guess solve, so I’ll give this puzzle four stars.

Today’s word is QUOTE. According to Webster’s New World College Dictionary, it’s a verb referring to reproduced words from a book, or a statement.

    Today’s puzzle is moderately easy.

The letter pattern in today’s word is distinct enough that the answer can be found within six guesses, and the word is familiar, with no repeating letters.
