‘Lauren made him grow up and think straight’: Amanda Holden credits Simon Cowell’s fiancée for his lifestyle overhaul and confirms she’ll be at their wedding

Britain’s Got Talent returns to our screens this weekend with Simon Cowell joining the judging panel fitter than ever as part of his recent lifestyle overhaul.

And Amanda Holden, 51, has credited the music moguls fiancée, Lauren Silverman, 44, for forcing him to ‘grow up’ as she confirms she’ll be at their wedding.

Having lost 20Ibs over the past two years, Simon, 62, overhauled his lifestyle after breaking his back in 2020 when he crashed his electric bike near his Malibu home.

In an interview with The Sun, Amanda explained: ‘The person that really made him grow up and think straight was his gorgeous fiancee Lauren.’

Amanda added that she was ‘really happy’ for Simon who she believes took the birth of his son Eric, 8, and his engagement to Lauren as a ‘new chance.’

‘It’s hysterical. He still has the odd fag and drinks his skinny beer. I mean, I’ve seen him take a drag from an oxygen canister then a drag from a cigarette. It’s hilarious.’

But added that the star has found a new lease of life as he has ramped up his exercise regime and enjoys a healthy diet.

Looking forward to her fellow talent judges nuptials, she confirmed: ‘I’ll just be smiling on the back row of the service with David and Alesha, ready with the confetti and a glass of champagne.’

A source previously MailOnline: ‘Simon said how he hasn’t worn trainers as much as this in 20 years. He feels fitter than ever before and is keeping to a normal routine rather than being on the phone until into the early hours of the morning.

As part of his life overhaul, Simon proposed to his long-term girlfriend Lauren Silverman, on Christmas Eve in Barbados.

Despite his previous staunch vows to never walk up the aisle, an insider previously claimed the past two years – in which the global pandemic hit and the star broke his back – have made Simon change his stance.

As well as now walking 40 miles a week, The X Factor boss rearranged his work schedule to ensure he only starts business meetings after 9am.

Earlier this month, Simon admitted said he is ‘kind of happy’ that his horror e-bike accident happened because he is now fitter than ever.

Speaking to Radio Times, Simon told how he got a personal trainer following the accident and is now in the best shape of his life.

He said: ‘I feel better. That accident on my bike was pretty horrendous and I had a trainer to get me through it otherwise I’d never heal properly.

‘Now I’m fitter than I was before. So I’m kind of happy it happened, weirdly. It’s like it was meant to be.’
