2024 NFL Draft: Predicting the NFL scouting combine’s top performers | NFL Draft

WR Xavier Legette, South Carolina: Legette showcased his speed on the field throughout the 2023 season, including on a blistering 76-yard touchdown against Mississippi State in South Carolina’s fourth game of the year. He came away with a reception of 30 or more yards in eight games last season.

Edge Chop Robinson, Penn State: Given his size, it won’t be a surprise for Robinson to run in the 4.4 range in the 40-yard dash, and he has the explosiveness that could help him produce eye-popping numbers in the broad and vertical jumps.

One of the most exciting things about the NFL scouting combine every year is seeing players put up absurd numbers in the on-field drills. While what happens behind the scenes in terms of medicals and player interviews is almost definitely more important, it’s the on-field moments that live in the memory of fans.

Here are five players who should put on a show this week in Indianapolis.

    WR Xavier Legette, South Carolina

Everything points to Legette being one of the fastest players at the NFL combine this week. He showcased his speed on the field throughout the 2023 season, including on a blistering 76-yard touchdown against Mississippi State in South Carolina’s fourth game of the year, and he came away with a reception of 30 or more yards in eight games last season.

    WR Xavier Worthy, Texas

Worthy is rumored to be capable of going under 4.3 in the 40-yard dash and has the big plays on film to back those rumors up. He averaged 7.6 yards after the catch per reception in 2023 and tallied a reception of at least 20 yards in all but two of the 14 games he played last season.

    RB Jawhar Jordan, Louisville

Jordan has blazing speed and is expected to be the fastest running back on the field this week in Indianapolis. You only need to look at the Cardinals’ opening two weeks of the 2023 season to see that speed on tape, with Jordan producing 70-plus yards runs against both Georgia Tech and Murray State.

    DI Byron Murphy II, Texas

Murphy came in at No. 3 on Bruce Feldman’s annual Freaks List heading into the 2023 season. Feldman has heard that Murphy’s 40-yard dash could be in the 4.8 range, which would get a lot of attention. One of the best interior pass-rushers in this draft class, Murphy earned a 91.5 PFF pass-rush grade and can force himself into the top 15 in the draft with a strong showing in Indianapolis.

    Edge Chop Robinson, Penn State

Robinson has the pass-rushing chops to be a top draft pick. He has put up PFF pass-rush grades of 92.4 and 92.3 in the last two seasons, but there are still concerns about his ability to be an every-down player.

With his size, it won’t be a surprise for him to run in the 4.4 range in the 40-yard dash, and he has the explosiveness that could help him produce eye-popping numbers in the broad and vertical jumps.
